- Well-drained fertile sandy loam soils.
- Soils rich in humus.
- Soils should have a pH range of4.5 to 5.5.
Propagation
Pineapples are vegetatively propagated using the following pineapple plant parts:
- Suckers; these are offshoots and take about 17 months to fruit.
- Slips; these are the undergrowth of a pineapple plant and they take about 20 months to fruition.
- Crowns; are the top spikes or leafy parts of pineapple and take about 22 to 24 months to achieve fruition.
