Dairy farming is a strategic enterprise in Uganda that provides house hold food security and daily incomes to the large population.

Oranges grow over a wide range of soils but light, well-drained(sandy) soils are most ideal. For good production oranges require well-distributed rainfall.

Maize is the most important cereal crop in Uganda providing over 40% of the calories consumed in both rural and urban areas.

Cassava is the basic food for over 600 million people in the world and produced by 105 countries. Nigeria is the leading producer of cassava in the world, producing 35million metric tons while Uganda produces approximately 5 million metric tons per year.

Groundnuts also known as peanut are the second most important legume after bens in Uganda. It’s also the sixth most important oilseed crop in the world. Groundnuts are predominately cultivated by small holder farmers on the average of 0.5-1 acre of land for food security.

Pig production is an enterprise that provides small scale subsistence farmers with a clear opportunity for increased household income. It does not require large areas of land; at least 16m2 is needed to raise ten pigs using Deep Litter system or Fermented Bed Technology
