NAADS Board Members monitor sugarcane out-growers projects in Lamwo and Atiak

Members of the Board of NAADS headed by the Chairperson Mr. Robert Galusanja Kibirango conducted a monitoring visit to the sugarcane project in the district of Lamwo and Amuru.

The Government, through the NAADS, is supporting the members of Atiak Sugar Cane Out Growers Cooperative Society Limited to implement the sugarcane production project in Northern Uganda. This project is being supported and implemented under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Atiak Sugar out-growers Cooperative Society Limited and Horyal Investment Holding Company.

Under this project, Government through NAADS is establishing over 15,000 sugarcane plantations to support the welfare and uplift the standard of living of the people in Northern Uganda at the same time provide the raw materials for Atiak Sugar Factory which is being constructed.

As part of the project, NAADS has conducted bush clearing, first ploughing and second ploughing, land harrowing, land furrowing, provided the seed cane, fertilizer application, conducted planting of cane and manual weeding.
