Millet
Finger millet (Eleusine Coracana(L.) Gaertn)is a staple food crop grown by subsistence farmers in the semi-arid tropics and subtropics of the world under rain-fed conditions.The name is derived from the seedhead, which has the shape of human fingers. Finger millet is the second most important cereal in Uganda after maize. Its production is concentrated in east, north and south west of the country. Upto 65% country acreages the districts of Apac, Oyam,Lira, Gulu, Kitgum, Iganga, Kamuli, Soroti, Tororo, Kumi, Serere and Amuria.
