Bananas
Uganda is among the top ten banana-producing countries in Africa, according to FAOSTAT 2016.
More than 75% of farmers grow bananas in Uganda, it’s one of the most country’s staple food crop. Bananas are widely grown because of their ability to fruit all year round making it suitable for household food and income security. The banana fruit is a reserve of energy that contains essential nutrients including minerals and vitamins such as carbohydrates, phosphorus etc
Western Uganda leads in banana production, followed by central, eastern and northern regions respectively.
