Strategic Commodities
The interventions for the strategic crop commodities are focused on the procurement and distribution of planting materials to farmers in various District Local Governments involving the major perennial crops, notably tea, fruits (citrus, mangoes, pineapples, apples), and cocoa. These interventions are aimed at increasing production and productivity of the various priority and strategic crop commodities for improved household income security; as well as export earnings.
This intervention also includes procurement and distribution of planting materials for other income-generating crop commodities targeting special interest groups often considered to be in the socio-economically vulnerable categories, particularly the youths, women, PWDs, and older persons. Such commodities include passion fruits, ginger, grapes, onions, garlic, and mushrooms.
